FTC Settlement Bans Deceptive Mortgage Sellers

Recent Federal Trade Commission settlements banned eight marketers from selling mortgage modification or foreclosure relief services, according to the organization's press release.

The FTC alleged the marketers charged homeowners up-front fees and falsely promised they could get mortgage loans modified or prevent foreclosures. The settlements in three separate actions are part of the FTC’s ongoing efforts against scams that target financially distressed consumers.
